Hypnotherapy
The View From Neals Yard Therapy Rooms

Hypnotherapy in Central London
Like most hypnotherapists in London, I am asked to help with weight loss, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, issues of confidence and self-esteem, insomnia, IBS and so on. Living in London, as with any big city, can be particularly stressful, so it’s worth choosing a hypnotherapist who understands that, and can encourage, support and reassure you. An inspiring environment like Neals Yard, Covent Garden is a bonus.
Hypnotherapy individualised for you
So how can hypnotherapy help you? If you’re completely new to it, I would ask you to forget any images of Derren Brown or Paul McKenna. Instead, expect a relaxing, enjoyable experience which is concentrated on you and the changes you want to make.
On the other hand, you may have already had experience of hypnotherapy, often with good results, but maybe your hypnotherapist has emigrated, or you want to try a new approach.
A typical first session consists of half an hour of discussing exactly what you want to change, and then we get down to doing just that.
How hypnotherapy works and why it’s so useful
Hypnotherapy consists of two aspects: hypnosis and the actual therapy. Hypnosis is the aspect on which many new clients focus: the enjoyably relaxed hypnotic state, and what it might feel like.
However, the most important part of hypnotherapy is what happens later in a session. The ability to use hypnotherapy to create the positive change you want, effectively and pleasurably, is far more important than the hypnotic induction which merely begins a hypnotherapy session.
The advantages of hypnotherapy
I have been practising hypnotherapy in London for over twenty years and working with hypnosis long before that. The most vital aspect of hypnotherapy is creating change through letting go unhelpful emotions and also changing your perspective and thought process on what caused the problem originally.
This could perhaps be done through more passive techniques such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), counselling and psychotherapy, but the advantage of hypnotherapy is that it’s much more rapid and focussed. This is ideal in London, as people in London often don’t have the time or resources for many sessions, and travelling itself can take a lot of time.
Making hypnotherapy work even better
When used alongside other techniques such as NLP (neurolinguistic programming) or EFT (emotional freedom techniques), hypnotherapy can be even more effective and rapid. You may never have heard of any of these, that doesn’t matter at all.
The important thing to remember is that there are various effective and quick ways of dealing with your depression or anxiety, boosting your self-confidence, helping you lose weight, dealing with your fears, panic attacks and phobias, or any other issues you wish to overcome.
